Entry formalities

Passeport

Passport valid for more than 6 months after the date of your return.

Visa

Obligatory to take it from Malagasy’s ambassy or in the airport of arrival; One month free and if more than one month it will be payed. You can get it at the Embassy of Madagascar in Paris.

The files to provide :

  • Valid passport
  • 2 passport photos
  • Return and back flight ticket
  • Form to be removed at the embassy and consulates, or completed at the airport for stays not exceeding 3 months.

The climate

The climate is tropical.

There are 2 seasons:

  • Hot and humid season: November to April
  • Fresh: June to August: Southern winter period, cold in the evening and at night.

Jet lag

Universal time + 3 Hours = Madagascar hours.

From October to the end of March: + 2 hours compared to Paris.

From April to the end of September: + 1 hour compared to Paris.

Useful accessories

Walking shoes, hat, flashlight, mosquito lotion, sunscreen, smile and good mood.

Vaccination

No vaccination is required. An antimalarial treatment is recommended before, during, and after the trip.

Change

The Ariary replaced the Malagasy Francs (1 ARIARY = 5 FRANCS), currently the currency unit is ARIARY. 1EURO about 3900 ARIARY.

Language

The language spoken by the indigenous population is Malagasy, and French is the official language in Madagascar.
